Do you agree the Lakers 2010 playoff squad is deeper than their 2002 squad?

Here are the games, minutes, and nba 2k2 and 2k10 ratings of the 2010 and 2002 squads in the playoffs:

2002 squad
1. Kobe: 19 games, ~44 mpg 99/100 player rating
2. Shaq: 19 games, ~40 minutes/game, 99/100 player rating
3. Horry: 19 games, ~37 mpg, 78/100 player rating
4. Fisher: 19 games, ~34 mpg, 74/100 player rating
5. Fox: 19 games, ~34 mpg, 77/100 player rating
6. Devean George: 19 games, ~17 mpg, 73/100 player rating
7. Samaki Walker: 19 games, ~12 mpg, 67/100 player rating
8. Brian Shaw: 19 games, ~12 mpg, 68/100 player rating
Of the 8 guys that got the most minutes in the Lakers 2002 playoff squads the average player rating is 80

Now here’s the 2010 squad

2010 squad
1. Kobe: 23 games, ~40 mpg 99/100 player rating
2. Pau Gasol: 23 games, ~40 minutes/game, 96/100 player rating
3. Ron Artest: 23 games, ~37 mpg, 85/100 player rating
4. Fisher: 23 games, ~33 mpg, 72/100 player rating
5. Lamar Odom: 23 games, ~29 mpg, 85/100 player rating
6. Andrew Bynum: 23 games, ~25 mpg, 88/100 player rating
7. Shannon Brown: 23 games, ~14 mpg, 79/100 player rating
8. Jordan Farmar: 23 games, ~12 mpg, 79/100 player rating
Of the 8 guys that got the most minutes in the Lakers 2010 playoff squads the average player rating is 86 which is a bit better than the other squad and shows some more depth

The Lakers 2002 had a large dropoff from Shaq and Kobe (both 99s) to Fisher/Fox/Horry (average rating of the 3 about 77). The Lakers 2010 while Kobe (99) and Gasol (96) is not as good as 2002 shaq/kobe, the average rating of the next three highest rated players Bynum(88)/Odom(85)/Artest(85) is 86 which is a lot better than fisher/fox/horry.

Mini Tournament: Class of the Most Recent Dynasties?

These teams are the most recent dynasties (or have won the most championships of the past 25 years, excluding Magic’s Lakers, Bird’s Celts, and Isiah’s Pistons).

How would they fair against each other with all of their best players on the roster all at once?

Note: If the players have not won a championship, or made it to the finals with their teams, they will not be included. Hence the selection of Ralph Sampson over the likes of Charles Barkley.

Also try to imagine all of these players in their prime.

TEAM JORDAN
C) Luc Longley
F) Dennis Rodman
F) Scottie Pippen
G) Michael Jordan
G) B.J. Armstrong
6) Horace Grant
7) Toni Kukoc
8) Ron Harper
9) John Paxson

TEAM OLAJUWON
C) Hakeem Olajuwon
F) Ralph Sampson
F) Robert Horry
G) Clyde Drexler
G) Sam Cassell
6) Otis Thorpe
7) Mario Elie
8) Vernon Maxwell
9) Kenny Smith

TEAM SHAQ/KOBE
C) Shaquille O’Neal
F) Pau Gasol
F) Glenn Rice
G) Kobe Bryant
G) Derek Fisher
6) Lamar Odom
7) Andrew Bynum
8) Jordan Farmar
9) Rick Fox

TEAM DUNCAN
C) David Robinson
F) Tim Duncan
F) Sean Elliot
G) Stephen Jackson
G) Tony Parker
6) Manu Ginobili
7) Bruce Bowen
8) Nazr Mohammed
9) Avery Johnson

Here’s the seeding, by number of championships won;

(1) TEAM JORDAN vs. (4) TEAM OLAJUWON

(2) TEAM SHAQ/KOBE vs. (3) TEAM DUNCAN

Who wins this tournament? (list the out come, 7 game series)
I MEANT TO SAY

CLASH

CLASH

CLASH, of the most recent dynasties in the title.

…ok, thank you…
Aaaah, good point "Wolverine".

I forgot about Malone and Payton.

I guess this whole thing is flawed then.

pairing allen iverson with jason kidd?

both will be free agents. if a bad team with cap space is smart, they should sign both to contract around 10 million/season. they are still superstars in the right situation and the team could contend immediately.
jason kidd is the perfect complement to allen iverson in the backcourt. he is big for a point guard, good defensively and can rebound which balance out with allen iverson’s short stature. iverson enjoyed the most success when he was paired up with eric snow, another taller, defensive-minded point guard.
any team with iverson and kidd in the backcourt would be instant contender if the right pieces are added…particularly big men (paul millsap anyone? lamar odom? shawn marion? rasheed wallace?) heck even chris andersen, drew gooden, or anderson varejao would do
    risky how?
allen iverson could easily average 25 points per game. the pistons are ruining his career.
jason kidd is still very productive and is still one of the best distributors in the nba and the best all-around point guard
