Has there been any players you didn't expect to perform as well as they have in the playoffs?

I have a huge hatred for Jordan Staal, and will think he’s overrated no matter what, but he has shown some light in this postseason enough for me to give him kudos. Chris Osgood has been lights out. Doug Helm and Tyler Kennedy have been little speedsters with pure grit. Dan Cleary. Brent Seabrook. Marc Savard. Lucic. There are sooo many out there.
Haha @ Bob.

Yes. I think he’s well overrated. Just imagine the team had they picked Toews instead? Staal was never chosen to be this "great defensive forward". He was picked for his size and scoring ability, and he rarely uses or does either. You’re right. He’s a big dumb oaf who reminds me of Lurch from the Addams Family. When he did an interview after the game, he took out his mouthpiece, let out a groan, and said "Youuu rraaanngg?"

Who would you put on the 2009 all-Stanley Cup Finals team?

Here’s my team through 6 games:
1st line:
LW – Johan Franzen DET
C – Evgeni Malkin PIT
RW – Henrik Zetterberg DET (I know, he’s often a center, but he deserves 1st line billing!)
D – Niklas Lidstrom DET
D – Sergei Gonchar PIT
G – Marc Andre-Fleury PIT (by a hair, more saves)

2nd team:
LW – Ruslan Fedetenko PIT (over hitters Cooke and Kennedy)
C – Sidney Crosby PIT
RW – Dan Cleary DET
D – Brad Stuart DET (by a smidge over Rafalski due to ice time)
D – Rob Scuderi PIT
G – Chris Osgood (he’s been very good too)

HM – Jordan Staal PIT & Kris Draper DET

Obviously both of these teams are stacked at the center position. The wings (Guerin? Hossa?) may decide G7 because they’ve been fairly silent so far.
Killswitch, I appreciate you answering the question, but there’s no way Datsyuk should be on the All-Stanley Cup Finals team when he has played in just two games. And, as invisible as Hossa has been, I’m not sure he’s really played in any.

This question refers to who’s played well in the first 6 games. I feel like both Malkin and Zetterberg have outplayed Crosby in this series. Crosby hardly even played in the crucial G6. That’s my take anyway, and I’m rooting for the Pens. I hope Crosby shows up in G7!
