The New York Times is among the investors. Digg made waves this week by tweaking their algorithm and ticking off some power users. This new algorithm seems to skew the front page and push power users into the background, even if they get a lot of people digging them. One user’s take? They’re trying to even the playing field for newer diggers who may be heading off to Mixx. Frank Kern has another free video out for Mass Control. And this may be the best one yet. Frank is giving away more great internet marketing advice — for free — than we’ve seen in a long time. Now, you can go directly to a blog where all the Mass Control videos are available. His launch is coming soon, so watch the videos (and take notes) while they’re still available! And StomperNet is running a contest to see who can identify the Mass Control strategies within Frank’s killer videos — with the 40-hour StomperNet home study course going to 5 winners. Check out the latest free line newsletter from StomperNet, and the contest, here. What can we do about the PORN BOTS?

Here’s a copy of a letter I just faxed to Yahoo (408-349-3301 for those of you wanting to do the same) regarding the PORN BOTS…just wanted to share!

ATTN: SUSAN DECKER, ROY BOSTOCK, FRANK BIONDI, RON BURKLE, JOHN CHAPPLE, ERIC HIPPEAU, CARL ICAHN, VYOMESH, JOSHI, ARTHUR KERN, JERRY LANG, BLAKE JORGENSON, PATRICIA CUTHBERT, MICHAEL CALLAHAN, GREG COLEMAN, ASH PATEL, HILARY SCHNEIDER, JEFF WEINER, STEVE BOOM, JOANN BRADFORD, JEFF DOSSETT, JEFF KINDER, MICHAEL MURRAY, DAVID REIMER, DAVID WINDLEY, AND ANY OTHER CORPORATE OFFICER AT YAHOO!!

My name is Dave Probert and I have used Yahoo almost since it’s first days. It disappoints me to let you know that I will no longer be using any of your services, in fact I am the President/CEO of a fairly large office with a little over 500 computers and I have directed my IT team to block any access to any of Yahoo’s sites. I am also contacting other business contacts and large advertisers of yours to get them to discontinue spending their advertising $$ elsewhere, like Google.

The reason for this fax and not a letter is because, I feel, that this would be the fastest way to get someone’s attention, and your emails are not available via public records, but your fax is, as well as a complete list of current officers as you can see above.

I have contacted your customer service via email, only to be blown off and my issue was not, in any way, addressed! By now you may be asking what my issue is and I will tell you!

Yahoo Games is exactly that, a place for all to go and play games. It has gotten to the point that it’s not safe for a child to play these games. From personal experience, I have seen a continuous bombardment of porn bots in the lounges of the following: Pinochle, Spades, Cribbage, and Hearts. After making several complaints regarding this issue, it has come to my attention that Yahoo’s policy regarding these PORN scrolling bots, is to allow them. Your customer service team’s reply to my many complaints was as follows:

Thank you for writing to Yahoo! Games.

If you are being bothered by another player, you can block their chat
indefinitely. To ignore a player, double-click their name in the list
of players. A new window will open showing information about this
player. At the bottom of the window is a checkbox labeled "ignore."
Check this box and you will no longer receive chat messages from that
player.

You can also block instant messages and invitations. You can do this by
checking the boxes next to these options in the game room where you
select a table to play at.
Thank you again for contacting Yahoo! Games.

Well folks, these are not direct IM’s and you limit how many people can be “blocked”, besides the fact that these bots are continuously newly created so those of us blocking have to do this 2,3 or more times every day! This is absolutely outrageous! I invite you to go to your own site and go to one of these lounges….you don’t have to play, just sit there, like maybe YOUR CHILD would be, and see the garbage you allow! I don’t know if all of you are aware of this and are allowing this to happen where you know children are are sure to be, or if you are just being ignorant to this and not caring because of the income it generates. Either way, you have lost this customer/consumer and I am in the process of creating a gaming site to compete with Yahoo. My IT Team has already been directed to start working on it, and, this site will be GUARANTEED to be child safe. Even if I lose money doing this, as I will not allow advertising from any company that is not child-friendly. No user of your site should be made to have to see this type of inappropriate content, especially not the user of a “gaming” site. If they want adult content, let them find their own PORN sites! To put the onus on parents to “block” something that cannot be blocked is absolutely absurd. Yahoo has gone from being a leader in the industry to just another one of many PORN sponsors. I know Yahoo is hurting for revenue—this is not the way to generate it!

All I ask is that you, the officers of Yahoo, hold yourselves accountable to each other and look at this issue and see if this is really a direction that is necessary for Yahoo’s bottom line.

If it is, you will be forcing me to do what is necessary to get this practice stopped. If I have not received an acceptable response by Friday, the 23rd, I will be filing a complaint with the US Attorney General’s office asking that you, the officers, be charged with promoting porn to children, not doing your due diligence in preventing this, and whatever else I can think of!

In closing, may I remind you where you started and where you have come, according to some it has gone from YAHOO to YAHELL! Do not let something like this create problems for you at a time you can ill afford to lose advertisers. Last I looked there was a possibility of a merger. Do you really want thi
